Can CHARCOAL Really Make Your Home Smell Fantastic Without Using Any Chemicals?
Charcoal has been all the rage recently, in all it's forms. We've seen face scrubs, wrinkle creams and even toothpaste - but we hadn't seen this...If you're a pet owner, smoker, or just hate artificial air fresheners, you'll want to see this.

It is universally true that there are some household chores that are more difficult than others. Cleaning will almost always be at the bottom of the list for favorite things to do in my house, and I'm sure that I'm not alone in that.

As someone who owns 2 dogs and a cat, though, it is very necessary to keep on top of things. Between the hair, slobber and mess left behind by animals it can be difficult to ever feel like your house is fresh, no matter how much you try. The best bet up until now was to use harsh, chemical air fresheners, and even in the best cases those always smell and feel 'artificial' and never quite natural.

That was until I was introduced to Breathe Green Charcoal. Essentially, this is activated charcoal which when placed in an area with a smell, mould, damp or just 'freshness' problem, it can help to clear that up in a matter of days.

It's also been shown to help absorb toxins and allergens making your home not just more pleasant, but healthier too.
Charcoal has been all the buzz on social media for months now, and usually in some form of skincare or toothpaste, but it seems that activated charcoal air fresheners are now part of the craze, and with over 8 MILLION charcoal fresheners sold already, it seems there is little that this magical ingredient can't do.

So with that said, I decided that I had to get my hands on some myself and give them a try.

The bags themselves came within a few days of ordering from Breathe Green Charcoal and I was told that they simply need to be placed within an area that might need freshening. Some suggestions were any areas that are heavily trafficked by pets (litter boxes etc), shoe racks, bathrooms, closets or even your car.

My first thought was to place them beside the litter box which, fairly obviously, has a rather persistent smelliness.

I also tried placing one in the bathroom, and one in our spare back bedroom which has suffered from some damp issues in the past. Finally I gave my last bag to a friend of mine who is a smoker, to see how it dealt with the toughest of smells.
In all honesty I have to say that I wasn't expecting much. I didn't see what a bag of charcoal was really going to be able to achieve that my store bought air fresheners wouldn't, but I left the bags for a few days and suspended my scepticism to await the results.

Well, I am happy to admit that I was spectacularly wrong. The bag I placed in the kitchen, between the litter box and trash can (which contains food that can start to smell after a day or two) was completely clean and fresh after just 2 days of having the bag placed near it. It was an incredible turn around and continued to work all day every day. The most amazing thing is that there was no 'masking' of the smell. It wasn't covered by artificial flowers or scents, just fresh, clean air.

It was a similar story in the other rooms that I tested, all smelled clean and fresh, and though it's early to say for sure it definitely seems to have improved the damp situation in the bedroom.

Finally, upon testing my friends smoky house for smell, I have to say it was a marked improvement. I did only give her one bag, so it wasn't enough to cover her whole house, but even allowing for that the house was fresher and nicer.
Final Thoughts:

As I said, I was extremely sceptical about these bags, and assumed they were just another social media fad that would be thrown in a draw and never seen again.

But as I write, I've just ordered another 5 bags to place around the house. I will never again buy store bought chemical air fresheners again. These charcoal bags remove all the standard smells you might expect in a home, are perfect for pet owners, and a must have for anyone who smokes in their home.

On top of that, for value for money they can't be beat. They are a little more expensive to start with, but these bags are set to last you OVER 10 YEARS. They just need to be put out in the sun every few months to 'recharge' and that's it.

As of the time of writing (though I'm not sure when it'll end) it's currently possible to save UP TO 63% on Breathe Green Charcoal depending on how many you get.
